March 2019.. covid was found in the sewers in Barcelona. I only learned this last year but finally it made sense to me because I was hit with some airborne illness while traveling there. I ended up in the hospital on oxygen, steroids and antibiotics, with a very serious respiratory condition. I would be happy to explain more. I was ill for weeks. (No previous conditions)
In March of 2019 my husband and I were staying in Barcelona on a visit of a few weeks to various parts of Spain, Portugal, Italy and The Netherlands. We had just finished dinner at a wonderful tapas restaurant and had walked out the door towards the crosswalk to walk back to our hotel, when I was instantly choking and coughing and really doubled over, barely able to breathe. My husband also was coughing but he wasn't as severely affected. He had a couple of days of respiratory discomfort but got better. I kept getting sicker until i was for two nights, sleeping, or trying to, while lying on the bathroom floor with the shower running in order to breathe. We managed to fly to Majorca anyway, but my situation became even worse and I was hospitalized there. I was given steroids and antibiotics, and was on oxygen and steam for several days. I recovered somewhat and in a week, we traveled to Florence. The apartment there was dusty and I was very quickly ill again, running the shower at night, propping myself up to sleep on the sofa, and coughing convulsively. I had a house call doctor who gave me some prescriptions that helped and we cut our trip short and flew home. It was at least a couple of months at home before I returned to normal health. The thing that made it so strange is how it began. Feeling great. Walking miles and miles. Enjoying immensely the various trips we were doing and loving Barcelona. When I thought about how it could happen, I thought maybe someone from an apartment above us had swept their balcony? Or.. It just didn't make sense how severe it was as if I had been sprayed with something. It was totally respiratory and nothing to do with anything from the restaurant. We both put it aside until the following year my husband got two P treatments and then became very ill. In all of the research I have been doing, I came upon this article which I will link, stating that Co was found in the sewers of Barcelona in March of 2019. I did get a J&J so not sure I could have an accurate test for antibodies, but it sure seems like I had the thing. Here is the news article:

MADRID (Reuters) - Spanish virologists have found traces of the novel coronavirus in a sample of Barcelona waste water collected in March 2019, nine months before the COVID-19 disease was identified in China, the University of Barcelona said on Friday.

The discovery of virus genome presence so early in Spain, if confirmed, would imply the disease may have appeared much earlier than the scientific community thought.
The University of Barcelona team, who had been testing waste water since mid-April this year to identify potential new outbreaks, decided to also run tests on older samples.
They first found the virus was present in Barcelona on Jan. 15, 2020, 41 days before the first case was officially reported there.
