In my neck of the California desert there is a reservoir: Lake Hodges. It has a dam. The state ordered the San Diego public utilities people to only allow Lake Hodges to be 30% full. So they have discharged 600 million gallons of rainwater from it this year. The reason: the dam is old and it would be dangerous to let it be above 30% full. Here is the kicker: A large pipe and pumping system was installed between Lake Hodges and the Olivenhain Reservoir (OR) so water can be actively pumped from Lake Hodges up to OR. But the state is keeping the water level below that needed to pump water from one reservoir to another. Infrastructure is a pretty basic responsibility of government. Our one party representatives have failed to maintain roads despite gas and car registration taxes, failed to maximize our rainwater capture and failed to thin forests, that are not federally managed, to prevent wildfires. And the climate crisis is blamed, not their ineptness.
Don't worry. At least for now the Germans are even more idiotic. As Eugyppius reported recently, German media howlers have included (I paraphrase) "rain doesn't fix droughts."
It may be a very good thing for the rest of us that they are all such morons. They do cause a lot of damage in the short-term but it will be on all of us if we cannot prevail against them.
Priming people around the idea of a “new scarcity” is one of the major goals. Whether because of “wetness” or “drought”, they want people to simply accept a post industrial, post development society which accepts a static, unchanging feudal order where the serfs know their place and aren’t allowed to reproduce too freely.
In reality, we want and need new great renaissance cities, great infrastructure programs that revitalize the land, greens deserts, unleashes new energy sources like 4th generation nuclear and Fusion power.
This is what the Malthusians are ultimately committed to preventing. The rest is just detail. For, if man has access to these things, all their arguments about scarcity and limited resources, or even random genetic mutation as the driver of human development, goes out the door.
