I miss the woman I used to be. On the summer solstice, I used to throw a white dinner party...white tablecloth, white plates, all white food..swordfish, rice, white leeks or white asparagus, and white something for dessert, usually panna cotta....and we dressed in white.

Don't ask me why, it was just a thing.

I am so far from that right now...but I miss it.

well white is the combination of the full light spectrum, so since it's the peak of the sunshine and the most light, it's symbolic and fitting that way.

White cloth and white dresses and white or nearly white suits for the men are traditional Midsommar-garb unless one opts for folkdräkt (folk costume in english I guess?), the local traditional garb.

Possibly some cultural memory at work, maybe?

I do not know where it came from...maybe it was some kind of cultural memory, or something I read about?

Such a pleasant and important essay to remind us of our awe-inspiring world.

my son's birthday on the (NZ) winter solstice. So that's how I remember that the days get longer from now on, that's a nice feeling - even if it's not going to get warmer, at least it will get brighter :) thanks for this lovely trip around the great ancient sun dials

Anyone else ever hear of an analemma? Looks like a snare, that the Sun has used to "catch" Earth in its creative cycle.

The Sun is our savior, and redeemer. Thank you for glorifying it today Mr. Emperor!

Merry Summer Solstice.

Who is the Naked Emperor? You might enlighten us or maybe just me about where you come from and what you believe. Your Substack is one of my go to sites each day out of only a handful of others. Your usual Covid/Gov revelations are very informative but your viewpoint/editorial pieces and interesting and informative posts are most often priceless. Thank you for informing me/us and I look forward to learning more about your ultimate objective for sharing your efforts.

Happy solstice. Went to Stonehenge at winter, but couldn't take the time off today. I should go pick some St. John's Wort apparently more potent on the solstice!

Thank you NE! I love ancient history (Graham Hancock & yourself reignited this for me), it brings me much peace. Humans were incredibly intelligent and I always wonder where we would be today if we didn’t have psychopathic, egomaniac people controlling the world. Happy Summer Solstice ☀️

Nice, love wondering over these, always look for Aldebaran and the Pleiades in Autumn for some reason.

Reminds me, still haven't had a look at Graham Hancock's series yet.
