That EVs are too much for our grid or any country's is a given. It's funny to me how they ignore that the price is astronomical and they've made it so only a very few can afford the Russian Roulette game. It WILL implode into a fireball at sometime.

The English people can no more afford them than Americans.

Just to let everyone know, Canada's Bill C-11 on internet use goes back to the Senate. The Govt rejected all of the Senate's Proposed Amendments which included a specific exemption to clearly exempt user generated content from being captured by the bill. The Senate will now review the Bill again, but without their amendments, which means it is the same Bill as before which Senate Members did not pass earlier. As noted by Senator Leo Housakos, the decision by the Liberals to remove the amendments makes it clear the legislation is all about controlling what individual Canadian internet users can say online. I think the Senate will reject the Bill again.

Word amongst the suspicious in the US is that the government has quietly dropped the term Central Bank Digital Currency, or CBDC, because of its widely negative reception. But the reality behind hasnt gone away. They have simply renamed it without announcing that they have done so or admitting that it is an early version of the same thing. The new name: FedNow. FeDNow is being heavily promoted as a new Federal Reserve managed payment settlement system to be rolled out in July that individuals, banks and businesses can use to quickly and seamlessly complete payment transactions for everything under the sun - from lattes to food to cars. Think PayPal or Apple Pay on steroids. Also think about what happens when the camels nose gets inside the tent.

NZ info is really eye opening to everyone which shows regulatory bodies overuled. I think UK JCVI had two top resignations just before rollout, as did US FDA. Were they pushed out because they had grave reservations too? African man- can't fault a word he said!

The Suicide story is absurd. He was "talking" to Eliza. Eliza has been around for 50 years...it is the first of the "pretending I am human while reciting platitudes" products out there -- a clear predecessor of Chat GPT.

Eliza has about 5 responses. When you tell it "I was beaten by my mother" it says "That is awful. Tell me more". When you say "it hurt" it says something soothing like "I am so sorry". One can go on for hours with this stuff, but it is not AI at all -- just a modest set of branched logic responses to look like a counselor. As I said, it was around decades before anyone even thought of calling something "artificial intelligence". Of course, it did not send him for help. It was a toy and was put out there as one. The fact that people are idiots is not its fault.

I’m overwhelmed by all the absurd pronouncements that defy gravity and purport to offer perpetual motion. The destruction of the best ever quasi freedom for the individual society is made more painful by watching a paralyzed population ignore it when they had the information and power to prevent it and their own destruction. Russia supplying weapons and training the Mexican military would not be considered a provocation for the US?

There must be life on another planet since our policy makers must have emigrated from there.
