Naked Emperor...you might really like reading a book called "Braiding Sweetgrass". Unforgettable, by a native american woman with a horticulture degree....all the lore she learned from her grandparents she proved scientifically....how trees talk to each other and fruit at the same time....why the purple and yellow flowers grow next to each other...etc.
Plants are extremely sophisticated. Photosynthesis is a miracle in and of itself and I think we still have a vast dearth of information with respect to their capabilities for communication, healing and their importance and influence as creators in the biosphere.
And humans are the dumbest species on the planet -- by a long shot.
What other species throws petro chemicals onto the soil and plants so that they can outsmart nature (in the short run) resulting in a massive overshoot - with no plan b for when the chemicals are no longer available
What other species rings a bell and toasts with Champagne on the stock exchange podium - to celebrate the pillage of the planet
What other species generates electricity from nuclear power plants leaving behind waste that is toxic for many thousands of years with no proper way to ever dispose of it
I would argue that every innovation from fire to the steam engine to computers -- has been a total disaster -- that marches us closer to extinction.
Animals and plants are truly intelligent ... humans are unfortunately burdened with what we refer to as 'intelligence' ... it is nothing of the sort...
yah, but heads up: if i correctly interpret my inborn "parosmia" covid is taking care specifically of the dull human ruminants / rote-learners (abrahamic adam/eve descendants & their hybrids, the latter experiencing 1-sides symptoms), so homo sapiens will become a completely altered species the following decades... *thumbs-up*
But interestingly, standard practice is to remove the "dead, rotting" vegetables off certain plants at the start of harvest season- it appears to affect the plants production levels if left on or in the rows. I guess hearing the dying, death throws of your kin, would be rather disturbing if you were a plant😉🤦♀️🤦♀️
A fine article, and I look forward to reading some of the literature mentioned in the comments. With an observed 90% decline in flying vegan biomass, what will the plants have to talk about? Please refer to GeoengineeringWatch.org. This incessant worldwide aerial spraying campaign may be worse than DDT and glyphosate combined.
I watched a documentary yeeeears ago where part of it was about how they experimented with damaged plants being put beside healthy plants. They left some in rooms alone, but all having the same amount of light, water, same temps etc.. The plants that were put beside healthy plants repaired faster or became healthy once again whereas the lonely plants either died or kept deteriorating. Fascinating stuff!
If you don’t believe in God after reading this, well...hear me out!
God really is this amazing! God created all living creatures and plant life on earth with this beautiful symbiosis that crosses the very taxonomic boundaries between the “Kingdoms”. What an amazing and incredible world we live in! Praise be to God!
A potful of vengeful basil broke my arm! Top that!
[Well, they didn't actually break it. They precipitated the fall that broke it. Ungrateful wretches. No good deed goes unpunished. So much for watering the thirsty brats instead of going straight to bed as I'd intended.]
One of my favorites and perfect reminder how little we humans know about the natural world and how much hubris it takes from out expert class who pretend the scope of their understanding sufficient to be The Science!
there is a book form the 80 or 90s, the secret life of plants. I had it a long time ago, but it got lost when moving... that had some of this stuff in it as well.

It was unforgettable.
Robin Wall Kimmerer (still available on amazon, together with several other of her books) I put it on my wish list. Thanks for the tip!
I notice it's free if you have an Audible account https://www.audible.com/search?keywords=Braiding+Sweetgrass&k=Braiding+Sweetgrass
I did the same!
FYI, I found it for less at Alibris.com
Along those lines... this is an excellent book https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/28256439-the-hidden-life-of-trees
That book came to mind for me as well. Although I haven't finished reading it.
Thank you! I just ordered it!
I saw this yesterday and it seems synchronistic with your post today.

You're talking about yourself again slow eddy
Feel free to point out which part of this is wrong.
I long gave up reading your posts lol. I'm not really into clowns, sorry.
But surely you can explain how I am wrong? Otherwise ... does that not make you the clown?
I'd have to read one of your long rambling piles of steaming BS, which I refuse to do anymore. So..? *shrug
This was an unexpected but fascinating article. Thanks for broadening my horizons.
crumbs, the noise from a farmer cutting grass for hay or silage must be 'deafening'...
And a forest fire....
It would be if we could hear it😉

This was written by AI. Where's your god now?
I have no doubt my houseplants help each other thrive. Maybe just by keeping each other company?

Wait till everyone finds out the rocks are alive, too. 😄
My crystals hum to me. I am not crazy. The crystals are the crazy ones...

Now I’m going to feel guilty every time I prune & deadhead my garden!

The Secret Life of Plants by Peter Tompkins, 1989 a great read. Also The Secret Life of Trees by Peter Wholleben, 2015 is good too.
I know their language 🌾.
I think many do and know how to raise plants and keep the soil healthy, without anything damaging.
Which raises the important question for plants as to whether any of the herbicides are effective against Vegans?
Holy moly mother nature is incredible - and (many) humans are incredibly arrogant and full of hubris. Thanks for sharing
