This young man is a very “thoughtful” teacher. This is how ALL teachers should teach. This is the way I was taught to teach. This is the Socratic method named after the great thinker, Socrates.

The present way of teaching is indoctrination. Indoctrination is how the Communist teach in order to control people. They do not want people to think for themselves. This is very scary for America. No thinking equals no creativity or individualism.

Get your child out of woke schools and be sure you know how, and what the teacher is teaching. This teacher needs to be teaching students on the University level, so they know the proper way to teach young students how to teach.

Mr. Smith is up against the same mentality which persecuted Socrates. I'm not a scholar, but I do recall the man who introduced me to Greek philosophy observing that Plato located his academy outside city limits to avoid persecution in Athens.

The same man observed that Plato had been a wrestling champ as well as a scholar. I have told my son that real philosophy is blood-sport -- from Cain vs Abel to the Bolshevik terror with no sign of stopping today -- that there are really no secure ivory towers. He has had a hard time believing me, despite what seems like overwhelming evidence.

How about State College?

This is similar to the problem of health care becoming a killing field -- it takes a while for such an enormity to sink in -- a National Institute of Health, so to speak.

We are at war and have been for some time.

Hope JKR hears of this scandal and provides support. Hope others provide appropriate support as well!

(I've always been a fan of the Socratic method - not so much the Stalin one).

Appalling! I have suggested via Twitter that he get in touch with FIRE as they have the expertise to absolve him. Hope he succeeds. America needs more like him!

Pre-Covidianism, this would have been shocking.

Since 2020 this sort of thing has become so common (and not just for covidianism - that was just the seed), that the ugliness is not so shocking.

The teacher Warren Smith is correct to prepare the next generation to learn critical thinking skills, the Socratic Method, and be able to discuss diverse perspectives of a situation. As a woman, JK Rowling is not bigoted for expressing her observations and concerns about mitigating risk about women. It appears as if a parent of a student is an attorney and seeks to draw unnecessary attention to themself. The federal district court should convict the principal for violating HR employment contract laws. Did the laptop belong to the school? Media and public opinion generate political narratives that are not evidence based. In 1990, I taught 350 students per week and assigned homework to the parents every Friday to discuss with their children before Monday.

Great story but supremely sad. How ironic a man named Smith is subjected to an arbitrary punishment for behavior beneficial to his students ability to think. He states what he thought were objective criteria, recognized by his employer as such, quickly became subjective when sufficiently amplified beyond a set of boundaries previously unknown. This is the totalitarian nightmare we face, every action will be judged based on the criteria that fits the need of those in power and subjectivity is deemed objective regardless of any previously espoused criteria.

Is there anyone out there daring enough to hire him? Had I children to teach ... well.. Mr. Smith might be the teach for me and my neighbors kids (home schooled of course) just like the one room school houses... that's where this man belongs...

Well, what did he expect? I stiff warning from the school, or maybe a dismissal for a couple of days. Nope, he went up against the schools function and they reacted the only way they could. Wonder they didn't arrest him for something, anything. Oh, I forgot, Trump's trial is still ongoing.

They can arrest him later, can't they.

BRAVO, Warren Smith, you have ripped the mask off and stomped on it on the floor.

Hopefully, this wasn't incidental.

In 1985, our national teachers exam certification was deliberate about "the duty of a teacher to prepare the next generation to be responsible citizens capable of contributing value to the community." The teacher's legal relationship with the public tax-payer is "delegated entrustment" that the certified, qualified teacher is equipping students with necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSAs) suitable for the workforce (to become tax-payers for the government). Therefore, the teacher Warren Smith is correct to provide a curriculum that instructs with 1) "case study for critical thinking skills", 2) an "object lesson with the Socratic Method" in order for 3) "students" (who may posture an emotional complaint without logic or evidence) to 4) "demonstrate proficiency" in objectively discussing the merits of various perspectives and the relevant impact within the law and social consequences. Mrs. Rowlings (as a mature experienced woman) was not bigoted, regardless of the false accusations. Remember Rowlings speaks from writing for Amnesty International, as they hired her to document human rights issues in French-speaking Africa. In addition, as a single mother, Rowlings experienced abuse... In fact, the State Board of Education should terminate the school principal for breaching the contract and violating the rights of the teacher, and permitting prejudicial parents to disrupt and distract from core content lesson.

Shameful, this is a low point in society / education. I only hope J K opens a few doors for him to move on and leave the small minds behind.

What school was he teaching at? Everyone visiting that school should be asking the head about this and how they want the Socratic method taught.

I’m sure the teachers in that school are indoctrinated or fearful of being fired.

That's a real bummer about the laptop being taken. 😞 I have noticed when I re-write something from scratch, although a pain, it turns out better the 2nd time around. Idk about how he can fix the missing cryptocodes.

The school will find some excuse to fire him ..to get them off the hook for discrimination. But perhaps he can retain Elon Musk's help as he is supporting people who have been fired due to Twitter views. And I think Musk commented on the original viral video.

Kudos to this man for actually encouraging free thought in an educational environment. The schools are showing their true beliefs. Education is not about learning anymore, it's about indoctrination.

Bravo to a teacher who actually tries to get his students to think. But yet he gets fired and probably for some woke reason. Must have offended someone, or used a wrong pronoun or something. The school probably has a transgender reading hour coming up soon!!! Linking today @https://nothingnewunderthesun2016.com/

This is good!!! People need to hear this, but many do not understand it this day and age. Indoctrination in “today’s teaching” is being pushed in all schools including universities. The dumbing down of America equals a faster pace to communism. 🥲. Cry out truth always…

I taught 40 years, AND it was not that way, when I went to school or when I taught; However, I began seeing the big changes around 1997. Remember Common Core?. Thank goodness we fought that off. Never “the same for all approach” Individualized learning when possible and according to interest and a student’s gifts. Teach basic reading, writing, math, and true history and allow the Socratic method in the classroom. Students need time to express creative thoughts. I loved using the Socratic process in schools and the students did, also. The purpose of education is to give the child the opportunity to discover the gifts God has given him/her-and then learn how to use those gifts to make the world a better place for others!!!!!!! Watching students learn what their gifts are is amazing.
