Lovely commentary on a gracious act to commemorate those lost souls.

However, there is room for 74 more tiles. That would be an endeavor that one of the young royals could take on! You know, show their worth:/

Can you tell us what surviving organization decides when/if to add tiles? I’m surprised there are only 54 tiles over such a long period. Thank you for this interesting bit of history.

I know, it's a shame. Although there was a recent one so maybe they will start it up again.

Thanks for this lovely post. If I'm ever in London again I will visit this memorial and sit for a while under their names. What was so touching for me is how many young kiddies are honoured. Also, here's a name that could be placed there from 2022. There are more good humans than bad - the powers that be just want us to forget that fact.

This is really uplifting and shows the true nature of what humans are truly capable of.

In these gloomy times where we are seeing nothing but greed and a grab for power it is humbling to hear of such sacrifice, probably enacted on the spur of the moment without thought for their own safety. Truly humbling and a place worth seeking out to restore faith in humanity. Thanks for this gem.

I love most people, particularly the elementary kids I worked with for 25 years. They restored my faith in humanity while working with them (reminder to self: gotta be careful with the word "love" when taking about kids!). Anyway, it is humanity that I think we could do without, which, sadly, we seem to be working on avidly.

It was so interesting to see many heroic policeman, which is a far cry from the gestapo thought police of today who are more interested in genuflecting to the latest thing, and actually protecting normal people from every day, crime, like theft of property

It's a great idea. Yet, I'm not sure if some of those are acts of bravery or just impulsive recklessness: if you don't know to swim, why would you go and try to save someone drowning?

Here more unsung heroes, though not to the point of risking their life... yet:
