You hit the nail on the head. SA has a huge advantage of not vaccinating its population and having broad natural immunity (which does come at a cost, you know, natural immunity is NOT free).

The UK and US chose the cowardly way of using vaccination and instead of building immunity, they prevented it from forming.

But did they really to any great extent? So much of the suppression strategy (cloth masks, obsessive hand sanitising etc) is just theatre. How much of a measurable difference has any of it made?

it has made it much worse in ways that are difficult to measure, as per the plan.

Hey Igor, off-topic, wanted to say thanks for asking UKHSA to release reinfection raw data by vaccination status! I asked people to push for this to reveal the real viral evolutionary dynamics.

I'll update my post with your newsletter as I didn't know you were on here!

Yes, we need much more data by vaccination status. If it showed vaccination in a good light, then surely they would release it as it would convince more people to get vaccinated.

They've had the option of offloading the vaccine induced susceptibility in the past to the unvaccinated by arbitrarily created and adjudicated categories like "Reinfection before Vaccination" which was utilized to hide the post vaccination enhancement and promotion/selection of viral variants (possibly recombinants in previously infected or reactivated reservoirs of unresolved latent infections).

This time they don't have this buffer because vast majority of people who are boosting are double vaccinated and releasing this information might make it clear that inviting your entire population to converge to boost when there is rising epidemic wave is possibly the cause of the wave itself and can't be pinned on the unvaccinated this time.

I've tried unsuccessfully before to get someone to ask them for stratified data. https://almostwrong.substack.com/p/challenge-ukhsa-reveal-infectionsmortality

Good hard hitting analysis, with bad long term prognosis for the sick English patient.

No turning back option now.

I hope not, but it is a big worry

I will be interesting to see how Omicron pans out in the UK and US for non refutable answer to this. And yes natural immunity is NOT free which is why the decision should be for each individual to make, based on their own risks and health profile.

Gosh, who could have possibly forseen that vaccinating healthy people who were not at risk of dying of Covid was a bad idea ?
