I can't recommend highly enough David Talbot's book: The Devil's Chessboard: Allen Dulles, the CIA, and the Rise of America's Secret Government. All you need to know about the Deep State.

Great book. Also, read " The Administrative State," which explains who actually is running America, not the 500 (s)elected people, but the Senior Executive Service managing things from the shadows. The elected are just convenient tourists. Lol

“the rule of administrators in business and in government” should read “the rule of administrators of the business OF government”

GOVERNMENT RULES BY THE BACKDOOR, by planting a 5th column of shills within the Ministry of Justice to constantly make secondary legislation without direct debate in Parliament. The Supreme Court Justices have also called this out as unconstitutional and we will be writing to expose this shortly…

Classic almost prophetic text, the foundational analysis of the technocratic managerial state that we are rapidly hurtling towards. - Just a little footnote: Burnham based most of his theories on the earlier work by Bruno Rizzi, ‘The Bureaucratization of the World’ (1939).

This goes much further back. Progressivism is communism rebranded for American audiences.

Progressivism is communism by another name; they talked about using the managerial class to control everything. That was President Woodrow Wilson from 1905. This has been a long game with many aspects to it.

It’s a mystery to me how this book (and its successor) have become so influential. Perhaps people just read the title. Burnham was a power groupie, first and foremost. His economic analysis is full of half-digested Marxist claptrap, always in service of his true lodestar, power.

In this book he favours the National Socialists and their system of managed economy, or Zwangswirtschaft, because they appear to have the upper hand (written in 1941). In the Macchiavellians, he has gone over to the Soviets, because their system appears to be winning. His writing is really that shallow.

This isn’t to say that Managerialism isn’t a very important development but Burnham doesn’t shed much light on it.

How about the satanic ruling class do something useful for once instead of stealing everything from the useful? Novel idea. I think it is called universal freedom, free from government tyranny.
