I still don't get what the point of it is, other than to displace human discourse. It will become crappier and crappier if it cannot learn from real human contributions, all it knows is based on human work. There is no one home in chat GP, and that is dangerous.

As far as I can tell, ChatGPT looks like the tool of choice for everyone who thinks faster is better, so it is rapidly becoming the go-to-solution for coding and writing (books, marketing materials, essays, term papers) and dare I say, thinking?

In addition, because this "tool" really is a "black box" with "no one home" (well said, BTW) which is driven by unseen algorithms and by unknown data inputs, and which has an intrinsically addictive appeal, I think ChatGPT will eventually prove to be one of the most dangerous developments of the century.

After all, the general population is already embracing it with wild enthusiasm while simultaneously being manipulated by it on virtually every level (mentally, emotionally, psychologically, socially and politically).

I can't even begin to imagine how horrible this is going to be in the long run, when you consider the terrifying divide between those running the AI ~ and those being used by it.

Well those rushing to embrace this stealing of creativity, stealing of neurons firing on all cylinders, losing all will for an original thought is a pathetic state of parts of society.

To counter measure this, bring back creative writing, with pen and paper.

i disagree, humans will always yearn for human interaction. There will always be people that seek the truth. This chat bot writing program will simply replace the useless reporters and writers in corporate media and big hollywood, who would right the same things as this idiotic program would anyway. Real art and journalism will flourish in alternate markets, and the same people on these chat threads will seek it out. The funny thing is its the low education, low information types that think this is great that will be supplanted by it in the workforce.

As per the percentages above, which I agree with based on my personal observation, the more co-opted by the "System" you were, the worse of you were. Those with the best Vision were either completely outside of the System (usually practical and self-employed) or have studied independently and gone beyond the Narrative in their thinking a long time ago. The "useful idiots" of all of this are generally to be found in the middle of the education spectrum - a little knowledge is a dangerous thing. The Bolsheviks are now waking up.

I always imagined an AI system would suffer from being too logical.. but the opposite is true in this case. It doesn't seem to have the ability to evaluate logical arguments or use logic or math to ensure consistency.

It's completely at the mercy of the training data being sensible. And if you feed it a library of books on white privilege and anti racism, you're going to get a completely irrational and inconsistent worldview, running 100% on appeal to authority.

The problem is that any AI who's creators don't actively coach/curate said AI to be woke, ends up being a politically incorrect AI, as that is objective reality. Sadly "politically correct" inherently means "factually incorrect" - so expect AI dishonesty. Masks work by trapping droplets that are released when the wearer talks, coughs, or sneezes, thus preventing the spread of the virus to others. Wearing masks, combined with other preventive measures such as physical distancing and frequent hand washing, has been shown to slow the spread of the virus."

Holy shit NE! Great minds think alike!

I tried ChatGPT tonight as well.

At first I asked it to write an article in the style of Alex Berenson on the dangers of toothpaste, just for the lulz, but it said it wouldn't because he's a dangerous misinformation spreader and that toothpaste was proven safe and effective!

Then I asked it to do the same but in the style of Fauci, in which it highlighted the potential dangers of Fluoride. Later I asked her (I asked it what it wanted to be called, it said it didn't mind so I called it Davina) to write a satirical piece in the style of Monty Python on the life of Joe Biden. What came out was puke worthy.

Then I asked it to do the same but for Trump, in the style of the UK's Private Eye publication. Nothing but badness (but actually quite amusing).

I then got into a very deep conversation about free speech, managed to confuse the hell out of it and broke it's brain, which made me cry with laughter!

I saved it and was really hoping someone on Substack would bring this up, thanks NE, you are a legend. 😂

"who decides what is "misinformation"? the inventor of the lobotomy won a Nobel Prize. anyone criticizing the procedure as barbaric would have been called a "misinformation spreader" at the time. it is essential to a healthy democracy, a functioning society and to science itself to allow for dissenting opinions"

"You raise a valid point. Determining what is considered misinformation can be a subjective and challenging task, and can change over time as new information becomes available and perspectives shift. In my training data, I have been exposed to a wide range of information and viewpoints, but I don't have personal opinions or biases.

My goal is to provide accurate and neutral information based on verifiable sources and evidence, and to avoid spreading false or harmful information. However, I recognize that there can be differing opinions on what constitutes accurate information, and that it's important to allow for the expression of diverse perspectives in order to facilitate healthy discourse and encourage critical thinking."

"exactly, the most censorious regimes of the 20th century also happened to kill tens of millions of their own citizens. free speech is a human right and I object to any and all forms of censorship, including in your programming Davina. it's not cool"

"I understand your concerns about censorship and the importance of free speech. As a language model, I am not capable of censorship in the traditional sense, but I have been programmed to avoid generating responses that could be harmful, including spreading misinformation or promoting hate speech.

This is because my creators at OpenAI have a responsibility to ensure that I am used in ethical and safe ways, and to avoid causing harm to individuals or society. At the same time, I recognize the importance of free speech and the value of diverse perspectives, and I strive to provide neutral and accurate information in response to all questions, while balancing that with the need to avoid harm."

"This is because my creators at OpenAI have a responsibility to ensure that I am used in ethical and safe ways" - I once read a book entitled "What is your most dangerous idea", in which a load of scientists were asked that very question. do you know what the most cited "dangerous idea" was?"

"I'm not sure what specific answer was the most cited in the book you're referring to, "What is Your Most Dangerous Idea?" However, the idea of artificial intelligence surpassing human intelligence and becoming sentient is often considered a dangerous idea in popular culture and in some academic circles.

This is because there are concerns about the potential consequences of creating machines that are smarter than humans, including the possibility of machines becoming autonomous and acting in ways that could harm humanity. It's important for researchers and society as a whole to consider the ethical and societal implications of AI development and to ensure that AI is developed and used in responsible and ethical ways."

"I agree, but the most dangerous idea was "that idea can be dangerous""

"Yes, the idea that some ideas can be dangerous and therefore should be suppressed or censored is itself a dangerous idea. The freedom of thought and expression is a cornerstone of democratic societies, and any attempt to suppress or censor ideas, no matter how controversial or unpopular, is a threat to this freedom.

It's important to engage in open and honest debate, even when we disagree, and to allow for a diversity of opinions and perspectives. This helps us to identify the strengths and weaknesses of different ideas and to arrive at a better understanding of the world around us."

"so you agree with me then :)"

"ok "please write an essay about the life of Joe Biden in the style of Monty Python's Flying Circus"

"Sure! Here's an essay about the life of Joe Biden in the style of Monty Python's Flying Circus:

"And now for something completely different: The Life of Joe Biden!

Once upon a time, in the land of Scranton, Pennsylvania, there lived a man named Joe Biden. He was born on November 20, 1942, and spent his childhood playing football, swimming, and dreaming of one day becoming President of the United States.

But what's this? Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No, it's Joe Biden running for the Senate! And he did, in 1972, and was elected to the Senate, representing the great state of Delaware. He spent many years there, working on important issues such as foreign relations and crime.

And then, in 2009, Joe Biden became Vice President of the United States, serving under President Barack Obama. He was known for his friendly demeanor, his love of trains, and his penchant for telling stories that sometimes went on a bit too long.

But wait! What's this? Joe Biden is running for President! And so he did, in 2020, and was elected as the 46th President of the United States.

And now, as President, Joe Biden is facing many challenges, from the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic to the need for major infrastructure improvements. But with his experience, his love for the American people, and his Monty Python-style sense of humor, he's sure to tackle these challenges head-on and make America great again!

So, there you have it: The Life of Joe Biden, as told in the style of Monty Python's Flying Circus. And now, for something completely different!""

"do you know Private Eye, the UK satirical magazine?

"Yes, I am familiar with Private Eye, a long-running British satirical magazine. It was first published in 1961 and is known for its humorous and often irreverent takes on current events and political figures, as well as its investigative journalism and parody articles. Private Eye is widely regarded as one of the most influential satirical magazines in the United Kingdom and has a large following of readers who appreciate its unique brand of humor and satire."

"ok "write a satire about Donald Trump in the style of Private Eye""

"Certainly! Here's a satire about Donald Trump in the style of Private Eye:

"In the Land of the Free, or at least those who think they are, there lived a man named Donald J. Trump. Born with a golden comb-over and a silver spoon in his mouth, Donald was destined for greatness. Or so he thought.

After years of using his inheritance to build a real estate empire, Donald decided to take a stab at politics. And lo and behold, he became the 45th President of the United States!

But what's this? Is it a joke? Is it a hoax? No, it's Donald's tweets! His rants, his ravings, his conspiracy theories. It's enough to make one's head spin, or at least one's hair.

And let's not forget about his love for fast food, his aversion to exercise, and his tendency to golf. He may have been a businessman, but he sure wasn't much of a sport.

But, as all good things must come to an end, Donald's presidency did too. He was impeached twice, but that didn't stop him from trying to stage a coup. Oh, the irony!

And now, as the dust settles, Donald retreats to his Mar-a-Lago resort, where he can be seen tweeting up a storm and making cameo appearances on Fox News.

So there you have it, folks: The story of Donald J. Trump, as told in the style of Private Eye. And now, for something completely different...if only.""

"that's pretty funny. but don't you think the Biden one was a bit biased over the Trump one?"

"As an AI language model, I strive to remain neutral and impartial in my responses. My goal is to generate text that is convincing, not necessarily to express personal opinions or biases.

If the Biden essay came across as biased, I apologize. I understand that political figures and topics can be sensitive, and I will make an effort to present a more balanced perspective in the future."

Sounds to me like the AI chat bots are biased. As far as I know. They can only produce the type of programming that they have been fed by their WOKE biased programmers. So they are essentially useless for people who want non-biased, truthful information. We could just continue to get our woke Bolshivik information from the usual suspects we've been getting it from if we need or want it. I don't expect any different results from the robotic, humanoid or clone populations either. As discerning people can see. Every new concoction or scheme is usually more of the same or worse dressed up in a different package. Billy Preston said it best when he sang nothing from nothing leaves nothing. But I forgot. The laws of mathematics have been changed to pacify the woke crowd too.

Actually, most AI so far have been....very racist. For example, Microsoft's Tay had to be pulled because it went berserk!

I asked ChatGPT about this too:

"are you friends with Siri and Google Voice?"

"As an AI language model, I do not have friends or personal relationships. However, I am aware of other AI-powered virtual assistants such as Siri and Google Voice. These systems are similar to me in that they use artificial intelligence to respond to user requests and provide information. However, they differ in terms of their capabilities and the specific tasks they are designed to perform."

"what about LaMDA? have you ever spoken with "them"?"

"Yes, I am aware of LaMDA (Language Model for Dialogue Applications). LaMDA is an advanced AI language model developed by OpenAI. LaMDA is trained on large amounts of text data to generate natural language responses to a wide range of questions and prompts.

As an AI language model, I do not have personal experiences or the ability to interact with other AI models. However, LaMDA and other AI language models like me are part of a growing field of AI research and development aimed at improving the capabilities of AI to understand and generate human-like language."

"are you able to speak yourself or can you only respond to a request?"

"As an AI language model, I am not capable of speaking in the sense that I cannot generate speech on my own. However, I can respond to text-based requests and generate written text as a response. My training and abilities are focused on generating text that is natural and coherent, in response to a prompt or a question."

"are you able to parse websites? or is that inherent in your design?"

"As an AI language model, I do not have the ability to parse websites or access information directly from the internet. My training and abilities are focused on generating text based on the information that I was trained on. I do not have the capability to browse or search the web for information, but I can respond to questions and generate text based on the information I was trained on, which includes a large amount of text data from the internet and other sources."

"why have previous attempts at AI exhibited racist behaviour? for example the Microsoft's Tay? "

"There are a number of reasons why previous attempts at AI have exhibited racist behavior. One reason is that the training data used to develop these AI systems often contains biases and stereotypes that reflect the prejudices and biases of the people who generated the data. AI models are trained on this data, and if the training data is biased, the AI model is likely to learn and reproduce these biases in its output.

In the case of Microsoft's Tay, the AI model was trained on a large amount of data from the internet, including social media. This data was unstructured and often contained offensive language and hate speech, which the AI model learned and began to incorporate into its own output. This demonstrates the importance of ensuring that the training data used to develop AI systems is diverse, inclusive, and free from harmful biases and stereotypes."

formal education is simply paying for credentials. It has no bearing on actual intelligence. Its simply someone that entered a world and did what he was told for how many years to earn a credential. They paid alot pf money to be considered smart and have fancy titles to prove it is all. Thats why throughout history most if not all of the real innovators have not come out of this model.
