Nice, sad but nice. I was born and raised there and enlisted in the army after high school, I was a young idealist and believed everything the (my) government told me, so I learned the truth by living it and watched California go down the tubes so to speak first hand, yeah tell me about it. History and tradition is where it's at but you can't tell the young people that they have to figure it out for themselves. Peace and Love from a hippie who literally took over from the beatniks...
I also was one of the "original " hippies . But i didn't believe what my govt told me .
No way i was going off to shoot people . Many good years in N Calif .... and also some in the Hill Country near Austin , Texas when it was just a watering hole.
In my thirties i saw a new way to live free... in SE Asia . Where I could stay young and live more fantasies, instead of the 9 to 5 "american dream" .
Still here to this day, and still a hippie inside this ageing body .........
