Antiscience is a major reason cases are so high in many countries
Along with real science such as variants and negative efficacy vaccines.

Cases are shooting up in many Western countries for a number of reasons. Firstly, new variants, such as BA.2, which are more transmissible; secondly, the vaccines being particularly bad at preventing transmission and seem to have negative efficacy in this regard; and thirdly, the topic I want to talk about today - antiscience.
Antiscience is a set of attitudes that involve a rejection of science and the scientific method. This slowly crept in in 2020 and then accelerated, faster than you can warp speed a new vaccine, to firmly dominate the landscape by 2021.
The trance of antiscience was comforting for people. It provided them with solutions to their problems. Even if those solutions didn’t work, it didn’t matter because it acted as a psychological comfort blanket. It allowed them to actively do something and be seen to be doing something to improve life during a pandemic.
On the surface antiscience might seem harmless. If it made people feel better, made them less anxious and more likely to return to normal life then that must be a good thing? However, antiscience is in fact very dangerous because once a population can be trained to believe something that isn’t actually true, anything is possible. The dangers of antiscience are for another article but it leads to dark places where unvaccinated people were being denied hospital treatment.
With regard to this article on rising cases, antiscience is a major reason for this. Until January 2022 time, people were still very firmly in the antiscience vaccine trance. However, Omicron came along and everyone started getting it. The members of the vaccinated population that were in that trance (including the cowardly lion, the brainless scarecrow and the heartless tin man) pulled back the curtain and found Fauci sitting on a throne laughing at them.
Quickly, so not to be exposed too much, the ‘living with the virus’ narrative was brought in. However, just like in The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, the people still had faith in what Fauci and others told them, so the remaining antiscience artefacts still held their power. Unfortunately, this illusory power doesn’t work in the real world of actual science and this is one of the reasons cases are rising so quickly.
What should have happened at the beginning of the pandemic is what common sense and years of planning had taught us. If you are ill stay at home, until you are better. If you don’t have any symptoms, continue as normal. If you don’t have any symptoms but family members are ill, then take a precautionary approach and avoid people as best you can.
Unfortunately, antiscience told us the opposite. It told us that we were to assume we are constantly ill and to wear masks with holes 1000 times bigger than the virus, but if we prayed to the antiscience God those holes would magically shrink to block any virus particles but reopen to let us breath.
It told us that if we were so ill or vulnerable that we couldn’t wear face masks, that face shields would be just as good. Daily sacrifice to this antiscience God meant that those huge gaps all around the plastic would be cloaked with an invisible forcefield.
When the curtain was pulled back, the antiscience ‘living with the virus’ narrative was introduced leaving the mask and face shield artefacts. Suddenly, almost overnight, huge chunks of the population went full circle, going from cowering at home when they were healthy to going out when they were ill.
As I said earlier, the actual science says if you are ill stay at home until you are better. However, because so many now believe in antiscience they go to places full of people when they are sick. They test positive, feel terrible, have numerous symptoms but antiscience has told them to ‘live with the virus’ so they go out. I’m pretty certain that even if they don’t want to go out they do so because the antiscience narrative has told them what to do.
In my part of the world teachers are going to school coughing all over the place and doctors are going to the surgery with fevers. It’s ok though, antiscience has the solution for that, as it does with everything. Face masks and face shields. Antiscience still proclaims that these work so its ok to venture out whilst your viral load is at its highest.
No, don’t worry if you are coughing and sneezing, the face mask and shield will stop all virus particles from infecting the rest of the cafe. Of course your patients won’t get ill if you cough with a cloth mask on, antiscience told me so.
And the ones who are still testing are even worse. ‘I feel terrible and the rest of the family have Covid but my test said no Covid so I’m going to visit Granny in the care home’. ‘Is that sensible, she is probably quite vulnerable to whatever you do have’. ‘Don’t worry, it’s not Covid’. This scenario has actually happened and lo and behold the whole care home got Covid.
So, antiscience is a major reason cases are sky-rocketing. As long as people believe antiscience there will be many unintended conseqeunces which will get worse and worse as time progresses.
Follow the science not The (anti) Science™.
Everything we knew about disease spread mitigation has been inverted and I'm no longer willing to ascribe it to sheer incompetence. If they were incompetent they would have gotten something right but everything we've been told has made things infinitely worse instead of better, and we haven't even started on vaccine long term side effects.
I suspect a lot of the anti science folks have "In this house, we believe in science" signs on their front lawn.
