Shanghai is China’s biggest city, a global financial hub and a national centre for commerce, trade and transportation. The Port of Shanghai is the world’s busiest container port.
It has a population of around 25 million and is the the third largest, as well as the most expensive, city in the world.
Cargo volumes have dropped by at least a third since March. This will have a massive knock-on effect on global supply chains over the next few months.
Couldn't happen to a more deserving nation.
In my kitchen, and in my linen closet, I have stuff inherited from my mom that was made in the USA. Towels that were part of her trousseau that are like 75 yrs old and holding up just fine. Revere Ware that I'd still be using if not for these miserable ceramic cooktops not made for the best cookware ever made. (insert pissed face here).
If American mfgs. haven't finally, finally, finally figured out that outsourcing everything to a totalitarian nation on the other side of the globe, then seriously and in all courtesy fuck 'em. Gonna be hard on us for awhile but maybe time for a reminder that we used to have Victory Gardens once.
Thats terrifying.
