Germany may indeed have been over relying on Russian gas, but Germany did not need to impose sanctions on Russia which would end up crippling German economy. If Germany were an independent state she wouldn’t have, but Germany is an imperial vassal and acts accordingly. That is the true origin of the current German problem.

The projected power cost for the average household used for economic/financial comparisons is expected to hit $25 000 or more per month this winter.

Because of wind, solar and shutting down nuclear power.

Meanwhile, the finns are making money hand over fist since they just started up a new nuclear plant, with more to come - well done them, despite electing a WEF-puppet (their nuclear plan dating back before they did that, so who knows what's in store ten years from now?).

And the long term weather forecasts for both North America and Europe prjects several harsh and unusually long winters ahead of us.

Who benefits from Europe committing suicide like this? Could there be a thought behind it? Revenge? Someone wanting to colonise and take over a generation or two in the future? Our own fanatical stupidity?

And of course......they will come begging for Uncle Sucker to save them......from their own stupidity.

I guarantee that we will be sending them some sort of fossil fuels by mid winter if we aren’t doing so already. And the American people will suffer for it.....

The conflict in Ukraine has highlighted two key weaknesses in NATO; both the absolute atrophy of European leadership and a huge lack of military capability.

America has off-shored most if it's industrial strength for Chinese money and the mistaken belief that large scale, industrial scale warfare was a thing of the past. You only need look at the number of artillery shells both sides are firing to see Ukraine will not win this conflict, even after NATO countries have exhausted their inventories. And without the US there is no NATO military. They spent eight years preparing Ukraine for this conflict - not a single country in Europe had anything that compares to the Ukrainian military and Russia is crushing them.

Meanwhile, not one European "leader", except for Orban and Hungary, have put their own citizens first and refused to participate in the latest American ideological adventure. How much better off would the world have been if Europe refused American interventionism, declared the conflict a local problem (as it had been for almost 8 years) and addressed Russia's demands that NATO expansion was causing them an existential crisis of security?

In 1999 Germany was 31% clean, zero emissions Nuclear electricity, 170TWh/yr. Now after having spent over $500B on wind and solar since then they are now at 29% wind + solar, 166TWh/yr. Zero achievement after $500B down the sewer. If Germany has spent $200B on Nuclear power they would now be 100% clean Nuclear electricity. 3X the results at 1/3rd the cost. And now most of Germany's wind & solar will have to be replaced over the next decade. And of course they would now be able to laugh at Putin's natural gas pipeline blackmail.

Interesting, in 1999 Gerhard Schroeder announces all nuclear will be shutdown in Germany by 2020 "replaced by wind & solar". [if you believe that I have 5 bridges to sell you, cheap]. Then just before Schroeder gets booted out of office he signs a $6B contract to build a NG pipeline from Russia to Germany with Gazprom, the Russia NG utility. Plus a $1.7B loan guaranteed by the German gov't. Then shortly after losing the election Schroeder signs on as a chairman with Gazprom at an undisclosed salary. And in 2003 Schroeder quashed an investigation into a company named SPAG in Frankfurt linked to money laundering in several countries run by St. Petersburg's Tambovskaya mafia group with links to Putin, who was on SPAG's advisory board. Schroeder still sits on Gazprom's executive board.

Here's one (of many) thing I don't understand: most Central/Western European economies, their industrial bases and their residents are severely weakened by these extremely high energy prices. So aren't they even MORE vulnerable now to Russian influence, and perhaps even outright invasion?

Don't all of these sanctions actually destroy, rather than enhance, NATO's security goals?

This is a very smug, arrogant article. Hundreds of millions of Europeans are about to face a horrendous Winter and you are basically rubbing their noses in it.

Who else is Europe supposed to buy energy from? What is arrogant Uncle Sam doing it about it? Nothing!!! Why? Because Uncle Sam, whether run by Biden or Trump, has no power to make more gas and oil available. Nor can they reduce the price. You only get oil and gas cheap in the US from the Gulf because if you did not get preference AND a cheaper price you would no doubt bomb the Middle East.

The sensible, logical, sane choice for Europe is to buy cheap energy from Russia. The Neo-Cons in the US - and their poodle EU leaders - have destroyed this and, in doing so, have destroyed Europe. Just as they destroyed Libya, Iraq and almost succeeded in Syria.

I will say it again - hundreds of millions of Europeans will go cold and hungry this Winter. A great many will die or will commit suicide. Thanks for rubbing our noses in it.

Necessary medicine for German obstinance/ignorance.

Every western nation needs to get fossil-fuel-energy independent.

This is so obvious to any thinking people.
