The Overton Window is a concept in political theory that refers to the range of ideas that are considered politically acceptable or mainstream in a society at a given time. This "window" shifts over time, reflecting changes in societal norms and values. The Overton Window was named after Joseph P. Overton, a former vice president of the Mackinac Center for Public Policy.
The idea behind the Overton Window is that only a certain range of policies will be acceptable to the mainstream public at any given time. Policies outside this window are considered either too radical or too conservative to gain the public's acceptance. Over time, however, the window can move or expand, which would make previously unacceptable ideas acceptable, and vice versa.
The concept of the Overton Window is often used to explain how fringe or extremist ideas can enter the mainstream discourse. For example, by continuously talking about a radical idea, a group or individual can make that idea seem less extreme in comparison, thereby moving the Overton Window and potentially changing what is considered socially and politically acceptable.
Manipulating the Overton Window is a strategy that can be used by interest groups, political leaders, media outlets and other influencers to reshape public opinion or policy. This can be done in several ways:
Introducing Extreme Ideas: By discussing ideas that are currently considered too radical, they can make less extreme ideas seem more moderate by comparison. This can slowly shift the window towards these radical ideas.
Changing the Language: By changing the language used to discuss certain issues, they can change how those issues are perceived. This can involve framing the conversation in a way that makes certain ideas seem more acceptable.
Creating a Sense of Urgency or Fear: By creating a sense of urgency or fear around certain issues, they can make radical solutions seem more necessary, thereby moving the window.
Influencing Through Media and Culture: Media outlets and cultural influences can also play a significant role in moving the Overton Window by shaping public opinion and discourse.
Clearly the Overton Window on UFOs/UAPs is being purposefully shifted but for what reason? It is also clear that this is being done on an expediated time-scale instead of slowly being drip-fed over decades. Again, for what reason?
The process started in late December 2020, when everybody was too busy focussing on the pandemic. Donald Trump signed the $2.3 trillion coronavirus relief and government funding bill into law which included the Intelligence Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2021. What was strange was that within that Act there was a provision requiring the director of National Intelligence and the Secretary of Defense to submit an unclassified report on unidentified aerial phenomena (UAP) to the congressional intelligence and armed services committees within 180 days.
In June 2021, the Office of the Director of National Intelligence released a preliminary assessment which summarised 144 UAP incidents reported by military and government source between 2004 and 2021. The report stated that most of the UAP remain unexplained and that some UAP may pose a challenge to national security and flight safety.
Then the New York Times published an article based on leaked documents and anonymous sources claiming that the US government has recovered “off-world vehicles not made on this earth”.
Senator Marco Rubio, vice chair of the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence urged the intelligence community and the Department of Defense to comply with the law and provide a comprehensive and timely assessment of the UAP threat.
The House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence held a hearing on UAPs where it questioned several witnesses from the intelligence community. These witnesses revealed that some UAP incidents involved advance technologies that excessed the capabilities of known human-made aircraft, such as hypersonic speed, rapid manoeuvrability, stealth and trans-medium travel.
The Senate Select Committee on Intelligence received a classified briefing on UAPs from the director of National Intelligence. Some additional information was provided here that was deemed too sensitive or classified for public disclosure. Senators weren’t allowed to comment on the specifics of the briefing.
Congress even took additional steps by setting up the All-domain Anomaly Resolution Office (AARO). AARO is to look at all historical UAP intelligence documents and has extended protections to whistle-blowers, allowing anyone to come forward without fearing prosecution.
Then in 2023 we had the UAP/Chinese spy balloon incidents. First the US military shot down a suspected Chinese surveillance balloon which was first spotted over a nuclear missile silo field. After that, they shot down an octagonal structure over Alaska. Before another UAP was shot down over Canada.
Since then we have had article after article discussing things from whether first contact would be good or genocidal to crashed spaceships on Mars. All these things are planting seeds into the general public’s brains and shifting the Overton Window ever so slightly each time.
This all culminates with tomorrow’s oversight committee which will likely review the UAP report and question the intelligence community about its contents. It will also include testimonies from three witnesses, David Grusch (former National Reconnaissance Officer Representative, Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena Task Force, Department of Defense), Rt. Commander David Fravor (Former Commanding Officer, Black Aces Squadron, US Navy) and Ryan Graves (Executive Director, Americans for Safe Aerospace).
The UFO hearings will ensure that the general public will hear about UAPs. The Overton Window will be shifted for them.
Going back to the list above:
Introducing Extreme Ideas: Suddenly the public will be discussing UAPs, a topic that a few years ago would have been considered fringe or taboo. But what extreme ideas will this allow to seem more moderate by comparison?
Changing the Language: We’ve seen ‘UFOs’ suddenly change to ‘UAPs’ and ‘aliens’ change to ‘non-human intelligence’. Has this been done to make the subject more acceptable?
Creating a Sense of Urgency or Fear: The UAP issue is clearly being fast-tracked but what radical solutions will be proposed that will seem necessary and proportionate to the threat?
Influencing Through Media and Culture: The MSM is clearly shaping public opinion - the BBC even has a dedicated UFO section so say no more!
So why is there an urgency in disclosure? There are two possible reasons. Firstly, UFO/alien disclosure is coming and it is out of the hands of the US government. Someone is forcing them to show their hand and so they want to get ahead of the game. Getting ahead of the game would also mean softening the psychological impact on citizens if some sort of disclosure took place because without it, chaos would ensue.
The second reason is that there is an urgent and impending matter, such as an economic crash, that will require a massive distraction. Once again, without such a distraction, chaos will ensue. This shift in the Overton Window will allow radical solutions as cover for the real crisis.
I would suggest the second reason is most likely. Why would aliens deal exclusively with the US government and agree some protracted disclosure over decades. And that disclosure comes at the very time that a massive distraction is required. It makes no sense.
But the urgency is concerning. People up high are worried about something big happening in the near future and require a distraction beforehand so as to bring in radical solutions.
Nevertheless, the hearing tomorrow will be an interesting watch. However, I don’t expect to hear anything new, the hearing is purely to shift the Overton Window for the general public.
Ukraine, Hunter Biden, Joe Biden impeachment, the new WHO malaria attacks, people continuing to drop dead from the jab. CBDCs, there are endless things warrant distraction.
As far as I'm concerned, sure, there may be other life forms. That the Pentagram recovers their crashed vehicles and can somehow figure them out, that they might operate on principles that would even make sense to us, that the NYTIMES publishes the truth...RIGHT.
Could just be another "destruction of reality" operation. So no one knows what is up, what is down, what is male, what is female, whether any of those things from which we need distraction are even happening. Big Brother, Big Brother, Big Brother!
"Then the New York Times published an article based on leaked documents and anonymous sources..."
Funny how that happens with regularity and with time many shown to be lies and propaganda like intel officials who painted Hunter laptop as Russian hack... but those leaks are never deemed threats it's only truth tellers and whistleblowers that trigger criminal charges.
