Today's Must-Reads - 7 February 2023
A selection of the latest news, studies, reports and articles
I spend a lot of time each day gathering together new information and interesting articles. I then pick one or two of the most interesting topics and write about them. However, that leaves a lot of missed out information that I’m not sharing.
Below is a summary of all the latest articles and information that I’ve found. Today, this is a slimmed down version for all subscribers but will be for paid subscribers only a lot of the time in the future.
Please consider taking out a paid subscription because it enables me to spend longer reporting on the news that isn’t, but should be reported.
Covid
Moderna CEO, Stephane Bancel, seems to brag about how he knew a pandemic was on the way. In a World Economic Forum discussion he says “We made $100k in 2019. After Davos I said how do we make $1 billion next year. They looked at me a bit funny and said “what!?”. I said yeah there’s going to be a pandemic”
Covid Mandates & Lockdowns
More good news. New York is ending its vaccine mandate for city workers!
Commodities/Economy/Energy/Finance
A hedge fund founded by the UK Prime Minister, Rishi Sunak, has seen profits more than double in a year. The fund, Theleme Partners is heavily invested in Moderna which last month signed a 10 year partnership with the UK Government for an undisclosed sum. Whilst the PM left the company in 2013 when he entered the world of politics, he has refused to deny whether he still has shares, whether he will profit from the surge in the share price and to publish his tax returns.

Politics
San Francisco is considering a new policy whereby descendants of slaves will be given $5 million each. This is despite the fact that there never was African American slavery in San Francisco. Unherd discuss the proposal with a member of the city’s Reparations Committee.
The Prime Minister of the UK, Rishi Sunak, has had a cabinet reshuffle after his first 100 days in office. As part of the reshuffle he has created the contradictory sounding ‘Department for Energy Security & Net Zero’. This will be headed up by Grant Schapps MP but run by Permanent Secretary, Jeremy Pocklington, who moves from the Department of Levelling Up. Note that ‘Levelling Up’ is a World Economic Forum slogan similar to ‘Build Back Better’.
The City of Unley in Australia has been putting up surveillance equipment to track its citizens. As part of the Smart City scheme, interactive boards show how many people have been detected as well as the number of phones.
Technology
The NY Times looks at Deep Fake news reports, supposedly distributed by pro-Chinese bots. We are told we can no longer believe anything we see online. Apparently, a video showing Zelensky surrendering was created with AI software. Not only are real people manipulated but completely fictitious characters can be created with the same technology.
Vaccines
Fauci has been busy publishing a paper on next-generation vaccines for coronaviruses, influenza viruses and other respiratory viruses. In the paper, he admits that the current vaccines elicit incomplete and short-lived protection against evolving virus variants that escape population immunity. Mr. Fauci is also earning up to $100k for speaking engagements.
A resurfaced PhD thesis from Yang Zeng and supervised by controversial PLA scientist Yusen Zhou, looks into racially targeted bioweapons. Here they develop mouse models to create vaccines and therapeutics against deadly diseases targeting only Chinese people.
I think the CEO of Moderna actually said they "made 100,000 doses but wondered how they could make 1 billion doses next year" since he was talking to his manufacturing team. This leads to the question why did they make 100,000 doses of COVID vaccine in 2019 BEFORE the pandemic hit.
San Francisco is clown world extreme.
