Today's Must-Reads - 20 February 2023
A selection of the latest news, studies, reports and articles
We all like likes. Who doesn’t like getting as many likes as possible on their articles!? However, over the next month, I would appreciate if you would like the must-reads so I can get a good indication of how useful they are. So please like if you enjoy the must-reads, not only because I’m desperate for admiration but mainly so I can see how many people actually read them! Thanks!
I spend a lot of time each day gathering together new information and interesting articles. I then pick one or two of the most interesting topics and write about them. However, that leaves a lot of missed out information that I’m not sharing.
Below is a summary of all the latest articles and information that I’ve found. Today, this is a slimmed down version for all subscribers but will be for paid subscribers only a lot of the time in the future.
Please consider taking out a paid subscription because it enables me to spend longer reporting on the news that isn’t, but should be reported.
Climate Change
Scientists have come up with an excellent solution to fix global warming - impoverish the population. They think a WWII style rationing of petrol, household energy, flights, goods, clothes and meat could help fight climate change. It would also help countries to cut their emissions rapidly and fairly. During the war, “as long as there was scarcity, rationing was accepted, even welcomed or demanded”. An alternative method would be rationing with carbon cards that track your carbon allowance.
Health

A WEF discussion looked at future space technologies. “Space hardware needs to improve in order to enable us to further explore the moon. That’s where future technologies come in”. What happened to the old technologies?
Ukraine
Russia has placed its nuclear submarines on a ‘high state of combat readiness’ and started large scale drills of its strategic nuclear forces. This coincides with Joe Biden’s visit to Europe in preparation for the anniversary of the start of the Ukrainian war.
Biden actually made a surprise visit to Kiev today where he announced that Ukraine will get a new military aid package worth $500 million. Yesterday he told Zelensky to prepare for the offensive now.
At the same time, the nuclear threat threat language is ramping up with Russia saying radioactive substances are being transported to Ukraine, from Europe, for Kiev to prepare an attack on its own soil. Ukraine’s military intelligence says Russia is preparing to test its nukes. And Iran has accumulated uranium enriched to 84% purity, the highest level found to date, a concentration just 6% below what is needed for a weapon.
