It's a misguided threat, pure and simple.
About 50% of Canadians are now actively on board with the truckers - many of them will be animal lovers and take pets into care. In the meantime, the absurd threat to pets will bring more mainstream Canadians on board.
When they come to write the manual on 'How not to handle a public protest', this latest action will be up there as a good example.

I can't speak for Canada, but here in the US blue states, dogs tend to be preferred to humans. Meaning that kind of threat against innocent dogs would have about 95% of the masses enraged. Really, really stupid move on Castreau's part. 😠🤬🤬🤬🤬

How is Turdeau (yes, I spelled it correctly!) getting away w/ all of this - threats to life, Liberty, livelihoods, bank accts & now pets????
In one way it is unbelievable to me that there isn’t global outrage that this is happening to ostensibly “free” people in a western “democracy” but in another, & after the global tyrannical lockstep of subjugation of the past 2+ years, it makes perfect sense.

Threaten huge fines, threaten imprisonment, threaten loss of livlihood, threaten to take children, threaten to take pets, freeze bank accounts of donors. All for a peaceful protest wherein the supposed leader of a nation won't even send a small delegation of representatives to meet with protesters to hear what they have to say and maybe work out a solution. Labeling the protesters as some things that they are not.
The aforementioned threats are state sponsored terrorist threats against citizens asking for redress. It is a dark day in Canadian history. Regardless of whether or not one agrees with what the protesters want, support for those issuing the threats to the protesters is support of fascism.

All of these doctors, judges, lawyers, who were silent were like the same pieces of crap that went along with fascism in Germany, Italy, Spain. No excuses people, you are adults and went along with genocide and violence.
I've seen shit like this before where people peacefully protesting got their heads cracked by pussies who "protected the peace".
First off, how will they know that no one is there to care for the animal? Are they going around asking, taking surveys from truckers and collecting personal information?
I wonder if the impetus for this is to eventually provide Canadian police the ability to perform some type of massive "search and seize" off of the idea that animals are left alone. I don't know anything about Canadian law, but I wouldn't be surprised if this is intended to set things up so that police are provided the powers to just intrude upon people and go into their houses without proper approval.
This is the most abject, unprincipled, cowardly tyranny I can think of, especially combined with ordering RCMP to trample and murder anyone who can't get out of the way when they charged.
RCMP and police have taken the wrong side. I hope they realize it before it goes too far. Once goobermint officials have utterly degraded the legal foundations of their positions, all that's left is brute power, either against or allied with moral strength. There are far far more citizens who have the moral high ground. Evil brutes might want to do the math before they follow a tyrants unlawful orders.
The resistance needs to disperse and take their efforts into a broader, decentralized phase that authorities can't focus their power on. Widespread work slow downs, sick-ins, logistical "errors", traffic tie-ups, delivery moratoriums, etc. are a few available tactics, not to mention what could be done with communications and in cyberspace. Tyrants have declared war on all who would oppose them peacefully.
Want to create a bunch of anti-government terrorists? Threaten or harm their pets. If they arrested me and confiscated or harmed my dog be assured that anyone and everyone at every level that had anything to do with it would plead for mercy. they would receive none.
