Coverage of China's Covid protests in the MSM

BBC - How China's Covid protests are being silenced.

China's censorship machine is going to great lengths to prevent people seeing scenes of protest in multiple Chinese cities.

As is generally the case with protests in China - even small-scale ones - Chinese media have made no mention of them.

The scenes of protest posted on platforms like Twitter, and widely shared internationally, are being ignored by state media outlets.

Daily Mail - Tanks on the streets spark fears of new Tiananmen Square as Chinese Communists flood cities with police to end unprecedented protests sparked by disastrous zero-Covid policy.

Xi's Communist Party officials have ramped up their crackdown on demonstrators, with police officers seen wrestling with protesters before dragging them away.

Dramatic video shows a woman screaming as she is arrested by six police officers and dragged away from a main square in Hangzhou, as Chinese officials sought to crack down on protesters in the city.

A man is seen trying to stop the police from arresting the woman by shouting at them, but two officials were seen running at the protester and screaming at him to get back.

Footage also shows a huge crowd of protesters trying to stop a group of police officers from arresting two men in Hangzhou. But the officers were seen wrestling with the protesters and dragging the two demonstrators away while holding the scruff of their collars.

Videos below - Draconian crackdowns on demonstrators include the use of water cannons (fracturing the young lady’s skull) and dogs in the Chinese province of Holland, 2021.

New York Times - China Regroups to Snuff Out a Wave of Protests

The campaign to quash the protests on multiple fronts draws on the party’s decades-old toolkit of repression and surveillance, which Mr. Xi has upgraded in pursuit of unshakable dominance.

A coach of 40 people were forcibly stopped & illegally detained by police on the way to the 'Unite For Freedom' march in London. 23 year old Amelia was in a cell for 24 hours & could face a 6 month jail term for ‘Beating An Emergency Worker’. Heartbreaking and Disgusting.

In March 2022, in New Zealand, riot police armed with tear gas, pepper spray and truncheons attacked protesters in the ‘Freedom Camp’ against ‘vaccine’ mandates that had been camped outside Parliament House in Wellington for three weeks, resulting in the camp being set on fire.

The Paris Police throw large amounts of teargas at demonstrators trying to quell the protest in Paris, France against mandatory vaccination and vaccine passes. The police will be the only group in the country exempt from having to have a vaccine pass.

Fortunately, in the West we have brave and principled politicians, such as Justin Trudeau, who stick up for the Chinese people’s right to protest and call out police brutality.

JT saying that protesting for changes in public policy was 'worrisome' had me spiting out my coffee. Seems like he supports protests everywhere but Ottawa. Remember when he knelt during BLM protests?

Brilliant angle, highlighting the plight of people living in these 'Chinese provinces'. Glad to see my birth city of Melbourne got a mention; it still brings tears to my eyes to see these sights on streets which are inextricably linked to my happy memories of childhood and early adulthood. While some people would accuse us of exaggeration, or of trivialising the experience of the (real) Chinese protestors, this is absolutely not the case. We can just see where this slippery slope of covid-19 (and other) tyranny could lead. And to see the hypocrit of all hypocrits, Justin Trudeau, commenting on China makes me sick to my stomach. What a despicable man he is!
