Although you will hear little about it in the main stream press, massive protests are currently happening in the Netherlands. The protests, which began two weeks ago, are escalating everyday and involve tens of thousands of farmers and fisherman. Over the last few days, distribution centres have been blocked and so supermarkets are slowly emptying.
After police were given unprecedented powers to deal with blockading protestors, they have been getting increasingly aggressive. There have been reports of heavily armoured, military-style police targeting farmers, as well as plain clothed officers infiltrating groups to start trouble. Yesterday, police pointed weapons at the protesting farmers and according to witnesses, shots were fired. Apparently, this was because protestors tried to drive into official cars.
So why is this all happening? According to many reports, the farmers are protesting against emissions targets but in reality it is much more than this.
The story begins in 2019 when the Dutch courts decided the government were breaking EU laws because they weren’t doing enough to reduce nitrogen emissions. Nitrogen (or specifically ammonia which is a nitrogen compound) is produced when manure mixes with urine and as you can imagine, when intensive farming is involved, a lot of this is produced.
As a result, in 2021, the Dutch government announced a 25 billion Euro scheme to tackle the emissions. But it didn’t just propose to tackle emissions, instead it wanted to massively reduce the amount of livestock and farmers in the country. Similar to a UK scheme I reported on recently, some of the money will act as bribes to get Dutch farmers to retire early.
Ok, so some farmers will get paid to retire early, some may lose their jobs and others will have to downsize their farms. What’s the problem and why should I care?
Whatever your views on intensive farming, the problem is that the Netherlands is a massive food producer and a global food crisis is looming. Holland is the biggest exporter of meat in Europe and the second biggest exporter of food in the world. The country is also in the world’s top three producers of fruit and vegetables. It exports an estimated 96 Billion Euros worth of agricultural goods.
It’s estimated that the Green Agenda pushing the emissions reductions will reduce the number of pigs, cows and chickens by a third. That is 33 percent fewer animals just when food is getting more expensive. And what causes food price inflation other than too much printed money chasing the same goods? Too much printed money chasing fewer goods.
The lady in the video below calls on everyone to stand with Dutch farmers because she says without its farmers they have no country. It seems we will also have a lot less food.

Personally I think things will have to get a lot worse before the normies get the fact something is dreadfully wrong. But then there will always be the 30% that blame the unvaccinated and go back to sleep.
Around my parts it's way more than 30% but I think it's getting better...? I see more Canadian flags and "fringe minority" stickers on cars (inc mine!)
