Book Club - Unmasked: The Global Failure of COVID Mask Mandates
Some light reading to enjoy and discuss
I keep getting recommendations for books to read, so along with my article and website recommendations, I thought I would share this information with you too.
If any of you have read these books or read them after these recommendations, it would be interesting to hear your thoughts on them and discuss with others in the comments below.
You can buy any of the books by clicking on the links below (NB I am an Amazon affiliate but I really don’t mind if you do or don’t buy the books, I am more interested in the discussion around it).
Also, if you have any recommendations, I would be interested in hearing them.
The next book I am going to discuss is Unmasked: The Global Failure of COVID Mask Mandates by Ian Miller.
Since a massive U-turn occurred at the beginning of the pandemic, public health officials, ‘experts’ and politicians have been advocating the use of masks. Cotton masks, surgical masks, N95s, N99s, two masks, three masks, spare pair of tights, you name it.
The official reason was to slow or stop the spread of SARS-CoV-2 but, as has been privately acknowledged by various advisors to governments, was also as a psychological tool, to keep the fear present in people’s minds.
So the question is, do they work? The answer to that question is very divisive and more often than not political.
Unmasked helps to answer that question with the excellent charts that we have come to expect from Ian. These show the policy changes happening at the time and suggest that, by looking at empirical data, masks were nothing but a comfort blanket, doing very little to stop the pandemic.
Many of you may follow Ian on social media and have seen his graphs but have you read his book?
Maybe it’s a good book to help persuade friends or family that their position on masks is incorrect. Or maybe, there is information in the charts that tells you that masks do work. If so, let us know what you have seen so that we can discuss.
You can buy Unmasked here if you haven’t read it already.
Have you read this book? What did you think? If you decide to read it in the future, come back and let us know your thoughts.
Have bought and distributed 10 copies. Excellent reading for those who have just slavishly believed the pabulum that masks actually do something without any evidence other than the maunderings of Fauxi and Walensky.
Just read chapter 1.
His coverage of the Asymptomatic Spread issue was good. This idea, that people that have no symptoms can transmit Covid to strangers in public settings, was the intellectual lynchpin of the lockdowns. Without that idea, spread by our health authorities as both fact and danger, the lockdowns would have been obviously senseless, which they in fact were
